This handicapped son wanted to join marathons. What his father did is unimaginable!

We can't deny the fact that parents are all expecting their children to be born healthy for them to have a We can't deny the fact that parents are all expecting their children to be born healthy for them to have a normal life. But what would happen if the baby was born as a "Special Child"? Would you still love him unconditionally? Would you still take care of him? Well, you better watch this heartwarming video of how this family helped their special child to grow up with a normal life.

Dick and Judy Hoyt were just one of the parents who has a special child. In 1962, Judy Hoyt gave birth to Rick Hoyt, but because of complications during the delivery, Rick's brain was deprived of oxygen and as a result he was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegia and cerebral palsy. Because of this, the parents of Rick Hoyt were advised to institutionalize their child because there is only a very tiny chance for Rick to have a normal life.

In 1972 Rick was helped by the group of Engineers from Tufts University. Because of the help of these engineers, Rick was finally able to communicate with other people using this interactive computer.

"Dad, when I'm running, it doesn't feel like I'm handicapped" Rick told his Dad.

Because of what Rick said, Dick Hoyt realized that his son wants to join races, so they did!

In 1977, Rick and Dick joined the 5 mile benefit run. They also joined their first ever marathon in Boston,
Massachusetts in 1981. Also, in 1992, Dick and Rick Hoyt completed an entire 3,735 miles. All of the marathons that they joined had this special aids in each stage that will help them complete the event. There was a two-seater bike for them, a custom-made chair for running and there were also rubber boats with ropes for Dick to be able to pull Rick to finish the event.

And now, After 50 long years, Rick and his father completed more than 1,000 races. He was also able to graduate from college at the Boston University in 1993.
